WAYC AGM 9th November

We held a successful AGM on Monday 9th November. The evening was packed full of presentations from people who we have worked with over the last year, and was a fantastic reminder of the work that we do with young people.

We were delighted to receive a cheque of £1,000 from the Leamington Safer Neighbourhood Team South as sponsorship raised from the Three Peaks Challenge they completed. The money will be used to support our own youth work on the Brunswick ward. A bottle tombola also raised £100 for WAYC, so thanks to our volunteers for their hard work in running the stall!

We also had presentations from:

  • Broadwell Youth Club- thanks to the leader Kate Thomas, and members George and Natasha who spoke so well about their club!
  • Sarah Owen from Solihull College bravely spoke about her time on our narrowboat ‘Dream Catcher’ as part of the Dream Team project
  • Three young people talking about their ‘Love Music Hate Racism’ project, which took place in Kenilworth in the summer, as part of the Vinvolved project.
  • A group of young Mums, including one tiny, well-behaved baby, who talked about the magazine ‘Beans’ they have created to let other young parents know about their experiences.
  • Three young people from the recent international exchange to Kazan, who spoke about their experiences.

James receiving his V Impact AwardWell done to James Clarke, our own WAYC worker who was presented with his V Impact Award- for completing 100 hours of volunteering- what an achievement!

Thanks to all of you for coming and sharing your experiences and making the evening so memorable.

A copy of our annual report for 2008-9 will be sent out shortly.
