Freestyle Project
Team building on Freestyle Coventry
The Freestyle Project is based round Community Volunteering. It aims to break down the barriers to volunteering and unpick the stereotypes of volunteers, whilst encouraging the group to work together and take ownership and responsibility of the community volunteering project.
The projects consists of 3 elements:
1- The group dynamics and the positive attributes that each individual has that can benefit the group.
2- Planning and organising the community volunteering project, making decisions as a group and also looking at how the project will benefit their own communities. We also have the opportunity to look at other community volunteering projects that are in progress or that have been completed.
3- The community volunteering project. Previous projects have been around environmental work, sexual health and street art.
The project will end with an evaluation event and celebration, which allows the group to reflect on the project and how they have progressed both individually and as a group.
The young people that complete the Freestyle Project can obtain a Bronze Youth Achievement Award and a Community Volunteering Award (that can be linked into the Millennium Volunteers Project if the young people choose to continue with volunteering)
