WAYC provides approved trainiing for youth workers, volunteers and young people across Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull:
WAYC also offers tailor-made training to support work with young people as requested, please contact Tracy Hayes for information.
All the members of our training team are professionally qualified, experienced youth/community workers who have undergone PTLLS training. This enables us to provide training of a very high quality, across a wide range of subject areas.
Established in conjunction with, and endorsed by, Warwickshire County council, this level 1-equivalent training is the first stage of training for anyone working with young people in a youth work setting. It consists of six individual sessions:
- The values of youth work
- Safeguarding young people (Child protection)
- Program and project planning
- Working safely with young people (health and safety, risk assessment)
- Understanding young people's behaviour
- Roles and responsibilities of youth workers
This training is delivered throughout the year according to resources and can be delivered to organisations as required. Please email for further details.
We have been delivering this qualification on behalf of Warwickshire County Council (WCC) for seven years. With the recent budget changes, we are currently reviewing and revising the courses we offer, with the intention of launching new Level 2 courses in the near future. We are not taking on any new students before April 2011, however if you are interested in this qualification please contact us.
This is a new programme we are delivering across the West Midlands, funded though a grant from CWDC. It is a pilot project delivered with the support of WCVYS, WCC and Warwickshire College. The current cohort of 19 students began their training in October 2010 and they are all progressing well. Our plan is to seek further investment to develop a sustainable programme that will enable us to recruit additional cohorts. If you are interested in this programme please contact us.
We have been delivering a pilot programme on behalf of the University of Warwick, with funding from CWIC, and support from other organisations across the sector. This has enabled more than 60 people from the voluntary/community sector to access the training at a subsidised rate, and achieved the project’s aim of increasing the skills of workers within the sector. We see this as a key area of our work and are looking to develop more PTLLS courses in the future.
For organisations: we can offer tailor-made programmes – please contact us to discuss your needs.
For individuals: we hope to offer more training programmes in the near future – please contact us to let us know you are interested.
We currently deliver an unaccredited, introduction to Safeguarding – we have recently completed training approx 300 students from the University of Warwick to help prepare them for volunteering in a wide range of placements. We see this as a key area of our work and are in the process of developing an accredited Safeguarding course. This course is also incorporated into our Introduction to Youth Work programme.
For organisations: we can offer tailor-made programmes – please contact us to discuss your needs.
For individuals: we hope to offer more Safeguarding training programmes in the near future – please contact us to let us know you are interested.
