Welcome to WAYC!

WAYC is a local registered charity (no 1056035), working with young people and our 141 affiliated youth clubs for 60 years. Our qualified youth workers provide expert advice and support to our youth clubs and work directly with young people who are finding life a challenge. We help them to achieve their potential by:

- identifying problems and creating solutions

- being a positive role model and a friendly face

- building skills and self esteem

- supporting their next step to employment or training

Give 60

We are celebrating our 60th anniversary by setting up a fund to provide one to one support and essential items to local young people who need it most. Our ‘Give 60’ campaign aims to raise both money and volunteer support. We are hoping to raise £60,000 through cash and in kind support of volunteer time. Find out more below.

September

Our annual report and accounts are in a calendar format, so each month we highlight one of the projects we run. This photo is from our project to support young people who have mental health issues. Many young people suffer from problems such as anxiety, depression, self- ham, eating disorders, breavement, learning disabilities/difficulties, abuse and bullying. Our Sharp Minds project funded by Lloyds TSB Foundation aims to bring fun and friendship to these young people, to help them to share their problems and develop coping stratefies so as to be able to cope better with their problems. The project meets on a Thursday evening at Lillington youth club, and is free. If you or someone you know would like to join the project, please contact Ali McCarrick on 01926 450156 or email: alistair.mccarrick@wayc.org.uk. We also offer one to one support for young people on a CAF, referred through CAMHS. More information about the project can be found here: http://wayc.org.uk/content/improving-mental-health.
